We love the Christmas season. We celebrate it through Advent teaching and reflections to prepare our hearts for all that Christmas means – that God Came Near us through Jesus. We’ll sing the songs of Christmas, enjoy events filled with joy and cheer and conclude our month-long celebration on Christmas Eve with 2 candlelight Christmas services for the whole family.

Sabbat Sunday

Sabbath Sunday is our annual tradition of taking a break from our regular Sunday gathering, to stop, rest, delight & worship. The purpose of Sabbath Sunday isn’t to practice Sabbath. The practice of Sabbath is a means to an end. Our aim is to Practice the Way of Jesus. We practice Sabbath as a means of becoming more like Jesus.

Advent

Advent comes from a Latin word meaning ‘coming’ or ‘arrival’. For centuries Christians have reflected upon the 1st Advent – Jesus’ arrival as Messiah and also the 2nd Advent when Jesus will come as King. When God Came Near is our resource for weekly reflections to stir your hear with Hope, Peace, Joy & Love this season.

Traditionally, the Advent season occurs in the weeks leading up to Christmas. There are a variety of ways in which people have celebrated the season, but no matter how you celebrate the season, what is important is the opportunity to reflect on the Savior who came to fulfill God’s promise of rescue and redemption. Visit WhenGodCameNear.com for weekly reflections and Advent resources.
